Change is Good, Huh?…

Tuesday, March 3rd, 2009

Okay, so today’s National Sportsmanship Day… and the question that’s been asked all day all around sports is what would you like to see changed in sports.

I actually started biting my nails (I know, that’s nasty.) on this one because the obvious thought was that I’d like to see equality, fairness in sports between the genders. But then I thought about it and I don’t think I really, really care about that too much after all. So, I’d then have to say that I’d like to see salaries kept quiet. I think a lot of the hold outs, hype, confusion, and diva-like complexes come from one player knowing another player’s worth. Other than that, I’d just like to see the football season extended!

I pose the question to you… What would you like to see changed in sports?

Steelers, Who?

Monday, January 26th, 2009

Hubby came in and told me the funniest thing he heard on sports radio on his drive home. Apparently, the host asked if listeners, as Ravens’ fans, would now root for the Pittsburgh Steelers to win the Super Bowl since they are in the same division as the Ravens (You know, some type of division unity?)… From the deluge of appalled-by-the-question fans was a comment that made Hubby and I scream (literally).

“I root for two teams: The Ravens and who ever’s playing the Steelers”!

Priceless…

A Robe, Tea, & Television

Wednesday, January 7th, 2009

Okay, so I’m not feeling well and Hubby has been the best… There is one thing, though. I think he may be taking advantage of my rather weak state and is forcing me to watch stuff that I normally wouldn’t in full strength (i.e. one-dimensional shows, scary stuff, those judge shows)… (What a sneak he is, right?).

Of course, for me, Hubby would never have to twist my arm to watch sports, but maybe your significant others do… When you fall under the weather, do you open one eye-while lying on the couch-to a game that he or she knows you wouldn’t be down for watching normally?

Attack of the Girlfriends

Friday, October 10th, 2008

K, so I was at lunch today with a couple of my girlfriends and they (of course) gave their opinions on how I could make my blog better… (I mean, hand gestures and all… I had to bring out the paper and pen to keep up! LOL!). I must say, what they’ve suggested makes tons of sense and would, ultimately, make things better for you, the reader.

I just thought it was comical that “the girlfriends” were totally confident about what I needed (Hilarious!). And, you know girlfriends (whether they’re really your significant other girlfriend or your pal) won’t pull any punches. So, I stand grateful to my friends for their recommendations (And, yes girls, I will take heed and add the suggestions!)… Friends, how many of us have them??

So, since the door has been opened for suggestions, what’s yours? What do you think could be done or added to make my blog better? You might want to ask your friends what they think about your site as well (Hey, I shouldn’t have to go through this alone. LOL!).

Only the Fittest…

Tuesday, September 2nd, 2008

Okay… go along with me. You’re a professional athlete and your sport’s season is fast approaching. You know you have to get in tip top shape (You were relaxing a bit during the off season!) for the regular season. What is the one food you would have to give up in order for your training to be truly successful?

Ah-um (I had something in my thought!)… I would say I would reluctantly (And until the off season comes around again… HeeHee!) give up malt milkshakes. Ugh! I love them. They call out to me… “Buy me. Buy me.”

K, the end.

You’re Gold!

Friday, August 8th, 2008

Today is the opening ceremony for the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing. So,…

If your were competing in the Olympics, in which event would you win gold?

What! (Who me? You’re asking me?)… I would seriously win the gold for sleeping (The Long Sleep would be the category!).

2008 Beijing Olympics

Surprisingly enough (or maybe not that surprising), there are a lot of families participating in (or extensive family support throughout) these 2008 Olympics in Beijing. I believe (especially if it’s feasible) that there are plenty of memorable times that can be made even more special when there is family involved.

What special times can you remember (maybe long time ago or just today) that involved you and a family member? And you know what?… It can be big or small, sports related or not. What matters is that it was special to you!

Despite the Odds…

Thursday, July 24th, 2008

Man… I’m sitting here thinking how to even begin this story. Just when you think you’ve seen or heard an amazing story, another one just crashes through. And, no matter what your stance is on this story, you’ll have to give this guy his propers (Bigups!) for such a passionate display.

This 24-year-old guy, Eric Shanteau, competed in the Olympic swimming trials, coming in at second place. With his finishing time, he was able to grab a spot on the 2008 Olympic swimming team. A once in a life time event being held in Beijing, Shanteau was presented with a choice (or maybe he didn’t think of it as a choice at all). He was diagnosed with testicular cancer a week prior to the trials and with this news, this champion decided to continue his quest for gold and go on to Beijing (Wow, right?).

Shanteau will have to face surgery, but it will happen after he comes back home. Maintaining that he’s not being naïve about the matter, Shanteau is having doctors monitor him closely during his time away. Apparently, his feelings are that the Olympics may be his once in a lifetime experience and he doesn’t want to miss out on that…

A courageous one indeed, what is your stance on Shanteau’s decision and have you ever found yourself in a once in a lifetime situation (It doesn’t have to be sports related.)?
