TIME Has Exactly That…

Okay, so Miami Heat’s LeBron James is a finalist for TIME magazine’s Person of the Year (Yes, you’ve guessed it, I’m drained already.). This honor has previously been given to Dr. Martin Luther King and Ghandi… so, choosing LeBron for consideration would only be natural, right?
I’m with the analyst who say’s win a championship first and then maybe the consideration would be warranted. It’s just a funny representation of where these United States of America (like the way I said that, huh?) spend their time.
Now, in all fairness, this “honor” is based on who made the most news within the particular year and with that in mind, LeBron is definitely a contender (Was I the only one to think of Marlon Brando here?). He’s in good company with President Barack Obama, Lady Gaga, Sarah Palin, Jon Stewart and Stephen Colbert, conservative commentator Glenn Beck, Afghan President Hamid Karzai, and Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan… LeBron fits right in, right?
A part of me is happy that he’s living his life like it’s golden, but the other side just wishes he would earn the level of celebrity that he has garnered.

I think Death should be considered! In fact, he’s a hand’s down winner! Who has made more news than Death?! He’s on every channel including the comedy channel!
He’s in the newspapers daily and he makes the local news on a daily basis! So wazzup with Death!? He’s being disrespected due to that old outfit he tends to favor. He plays sports and his presence has been felt on the playing fields. Does Hank Gaithers ring a bell? How about Reggie Lewis? Death is everywhere doing what he’s designed to do to keep the circle of life going and yet he’s not considered for the cover of Time magazine! That sux!!!!
LeBone gets the hero worship recognition and that’s where we are as a society. So despite LaBones lack of championship pedigree on a professional level, he fits into today’s society and should be considered. I am puking as I say this however let’s not forget to give Death his props. He’s not the prettiest nor the most articulate but he’s a hero if you’re at war. Go Death! Man of the Year!!!!! Death ain’t got nothing but TIME!!!

Kid, you make some good arguments some times… Don’t know how that picture would show up on the cover though.

hmmmm, you have a point there. Perhaps a skull and crossbones or someone real ugly like Aunt Esther from Sanford and Son.

[...] it is still Rodney King who said it best… Okay, so you all know I’m not the biggest LeBron James‘ fan, but after reading an article about a man suing LeBron (and his mom), I’m sorta [...]
