The “Answer” is Being Questioned…
Posted by VeRonda Wicks November 24th, 2009You know, I’m a fan of Allen Iverson. I think he’s been one of the best point guards in the game (uh, basketball, that is… I gotta think of my sports’ challenged readers, too.), but I’m disappointed in his attitude of late.

I mean, in general, no one likes to get old (Heehee… I have bones that crack to songs. LOL!), but we all know its a fact of life. It’s just that I’m sure it can be confusing in professional sports because when a person is hitting the age where life is really just beginning, that same person is over the hill within the NBA (or any other professional game)… And that’s where Iverson is finding himself. But, he’s not aging gracefully. LOL!
It’s just a crack up because he’d rather not play at all versus coming off the bench. The non-graceful part is that he’s not accepting that he’s older now and isn’t as explosive as he once was. Kenny Smith on Inside the NBA laid out a clear case of how Iverson isn’t the “Anwser” that we once knew him to be and the film made it so apparent. He was missing shots, stumbling over his own feet, getting beat on the ball, and not pushing the ball up the court… It was actually sorta sad because Iverson was the truth back in the day.
What I think is unfortunate is that he’s definitely bringing a cloud of shame over his head by being so opposing and by being in such denial. At this point, what choices does he have? I personally don’t think he should leave the game, because those checks would make me think twice about retiring (LOL! I’m just saying.). But, then what are his choices? I can’t believe I’m seeing him in a Grizzlies uniform. Wow!

Hey H-less, i didn’t know that Iverson was refusing to come off the bench. His game is based off of speed and quickness and if that’s gone then he’s a liability due to his small stature. I hope that’s not the case.
I can sit on a bench and collect a fat paycheck and if that’s unacceptable then compete for a starting spot and let the best man win. Competition brings out the best in a warrior and dude is indeed a warrior.
I’ve always believed that if iverson had jordan’s size then we would be talking about iverson instead of jordan or at least they would be on par.
i really didn’t know that iverson had taken up residence in knuckleheadville. he must have been homesick.

Wow, Kid! You didn’t know about this… It’s everywhere. He may be retiring b/c he can’t be “the man” and that sucks, obviously, for him. The word is that his legacy will be another great player who never won a championship. It’s sad b/c he really was THAT good. And, BTW, you’re hilarious.

Looks like Iverson is heading back to Philly. Saw this interview with Eric Snow, Iverson’s friend and former backcourt mate in Philly and he said that Iverson wasn’t interested in playing behind someone that he’s better than.
That I can agree with.
He also said that iverson didn’t want to go to a championship team that’s already in place to “steal” a championship.
He said that iverson would come off the bench if he was part of building a championship team but except for the aforementioned reasons – no dice.
I’m feeling the brotha and I agree!
Philly is a good fit for him because the team is better than it was when he was there. The talent is better and they would make him better rather than it being his responsibility in making them better. He has not shown that popensity before and to expect it now would be foolish.
The bottom line is – you can’t find 5 guys in the NBA who would volunteer to guard him. He will play with a chip on his shoulder and I look forward to seeing him get his vengence against the league.

Yeah, Kid… I’m on top of that story in PA. I guess its a good idea. I mean, he’s finishing it where it all started. I just really see him as another great player who won’t experience the taste of being a champion.
