Hard Knocks Life…
Posted by VeRonda Wicks August 26th, 2009Hubby and I were up late watching Hard Knocks, this special on the Cincinnati Bengals going through training camp and some of the preseason. There’s a newfound respect because you see the behind-the-scenes happenings that make everything look good on game day.
You get these great highlights of coaches pushing the players, along with rookies finding their way, and veterans enjoying the experience. The snapshots pinpointed one specific message… make every rep count…
The message resonated with me (For real!)… So, during training camp there are more players than what is needed. By the end of camp, if the player hasn’t made a positive impression they’re waived or cut. That sucks, right? Well, the whole point is to make every rep count and take full advantage of the opportunity.
Seeing this whole process and the urgency behind it all really helped me to refocus on the task at hand. I think it is a great lesson for us all. When opportunities present themselves (even when hard work is involved) count them as chances to make an impact and make your dreams come true. It’s all about the hard work… That’s what gets you to your end result.

Make every rep count — what a great philosophy for life. Altho, I do like to be lazy on occasion too, hee hee. But when you’re really focussing and down in the trenches of making a difference each rep may count more than we know.
Speaking of which, school starts again Monday and Jannie’s going to be back to her exercise schedule yay! Walking, a little running, ab crunches and some butt and leg lifts on park benches. It’s gonna be soooo great!! yay!!!!!

Hey Jannie… It never hurts to be lazy. I think we all deserve it, especially with how busy this world is. And you go with the whole workout thing…

Its all about preperation. While going through the training camp of life we must work on our weaknesses and continue to maintain our strenghts. So when your number is called you are ready to step up and succeed in this game of life. (not the one by milton bradley)
As always, nice topic V.

It is an inspiring thought. There really is so much on the line…during the entire preseason. Just as their stakes are high I should treat my opportunities the same way. As I keep making steps and accomplishing my goals toward the big dreams the stakes will be higher and the work will be harder, but that’s the only way I’ll get where I should be…Cool Thanks

Hey JayDub, your way of thinking is good. I’m telling you, the stories here are in place to help you find yourself in them. So, if you’ve gained some awareness I’ve succeeded… And, I felt the same thing for myself. Hope to see you back soon…

What I find hard about making every opportunity count is when what seems to be opportunity turns into lessons in perseverance. Your thoughts are encouraging… keep up the good writing!

Hey Doug… Man, I think the two go hand and hand. I don’t think its often that a great opportunity comes without some level of perseverance. I know the latter can be difficult at times. Sheesh! Thanks for the visit.
