Your Thoughts on Michael?
Posted by VeRonda Wicks July 28th, 2009No, not that Michael…
NFL’s commissioner, Roger Goodell, reinstated former quarterback, Michael Vick, back into the NFL… with conditions. This means Vick is free to play if he is picked up by a particular team. There are also stipulations that Vick would have to adhere to in regards to when he can start playing. Vick hasn’t responded to this recent decision, but man, it seems like everybody has.
I mean the comments have varied from being glad that he’s being allowed to play again to only those who unknowingly do wrong should be allowed to get a second chance. I don’t know what to think because we are all flawed and deserve grace, but where is the balance, you know?
Where exactly do you stand?…

Where I stand is as the blogging friend who knows about absolutely nothign about sports or who Michael is but I always appreciate seeing you over at in Funsterland, therefore love popping over here to say hello too.
My guess is that he needs to learn his lesson.

Well, I think that if you serve your time then you’ve served your time. But with that said, I don’t think that anyone will give him a chance…right or wrong, I just don’t think anyone will risk their teams sales…or getting protested.
But I don’t see why he shouldn’t be allowed to play. I just don’t think anyone will want him. He’s been out of the loop for many years, I wonder if he’s even ready.

Hey VeRonda, I saw the news last night and now know who Michael is, so please forgive my stupidity the other day here.
Well, I just feel sorry for him as he must have had a sad childhood, which is my opinion on why he would have abused animals.
Yes, he served his time and his societal debt. People do deserve to be forgiven. None of us is perfect. And he, like all of us, can choose his actions in the future.

Hey Ladies!… See just how the feelings varies on the Vick situation? But what’s funny is that within conversation and even here, the feeling is that some type of grace should be extended. I think someone will take the time out to grab him up. It’s the ultimate news story… a franchise, owner, or coach takes a chance on this man and gives him his life back. The story would be everywhere…
Thanks for visiting guys!!

In regards to Michael Vick I have to say that he deserves a second chance. As you mentioned, yes we are all flawed and the honest truth is that he served his time. If the law has cleared him based on the fact that he completed his sentence then who are we to hold his past against him.

Michael Vick has paid his debt to society and should be allowed to play in the NFL so he can restore his life. It pains me to see how this jacked up society would punish a black (or any man) over some dogs, yet the KKK, skin heads and other hate groups like them get away with dragging black men to their deaths behind cars! Or what about the 18-year old black football star who was ‘mysteriously’ killed during what was called a routine traffic stop at night in Alabama a few months ago? The only two people there were the young black man and a white state trooper. The trooper says heard a shot while in his car checking the young man’s driver’s license as the young man sat in his car. When he got to the car the young man was on the ground dead with a gunshot wound to the BACK of his head and a shotgun lying beside him. They called it suicide…you decide.

Hey Earl! Thanks for the visit… Hey, I’m with you on feeling that he deserves another chance. I mean, we all do at some point and consider this… If who ever that person, people, or company didn’t give us another chance at whatever, where would we be? Hope to see you back soon…

Hi Mike… Wow. I really appreciate your point of view b/c it confirms that there is still alot of work to be done in our communities, this country, and our world at large… I don’t think crime should mean no possibility of restoration. It is something that we all need. Drop by soon…

Y’know, this thing about Mike sorta pissed me off. He served almost 2 years in jail and now he’s being punished again by sitting out six games. What makes it worse, Donte Stallworth was driving drunk and killed a dude and only served 24 days in jail! I’m sick and tired of folks of different hues (and you know who you are!) placing a greater premium on the life of a dog than that of a human.
Mike served his time and to attached double jeopardy to him under the guise of transition smacks of politics in the worse way! Let that brotha compete and play! Those folks who are so in love with dogs who believes that he should be banned for life from playing in the NFL needs to get a life! Remove your jealousy of Mike being a million dollar athlete and calibrate your thinking with an injection of common sense. He paid his dues to society and he has a right to make a living. How would you feel if you committed a crime, did your time and met your societal obligations only to discover that you can’t ply your trade for half a year? C’mon y’all, the commissioner is cutting his funk and as Parliament Funkedelic says, “I want my funk uncut!”

Well, well… Kid Funkadelic, you have definitely made an impression here. I am so glad about the opinions of the people b/c it makes up what this society is all about… good, bad, or indifferent. Vick is an example of making bad decisions and possibly coming full circle… Only in America.

Yea it’s me
Vick’s falling was an unfortunate event. I’m not going to say dog fighting is an innocent activity. But considering other things he could have been envoled in, I guess we’ll accept this one. He was caught, and he’s done his time. Because of human nature, society will alway indentify him as,” Michael Vick, the quater back convicted of dog fighting.” Let’s hope he achieve greatness despite sociaty.

Hey Billy! You know, its unfortunate if society perpetuates what it wouldn’t want done back, a perpetual judgment of past wrongs when an anew has happened. Stop by again…
