One Good Thing…
Posted by VeRonda Wicks July 21st, 2009So, one good thing came out of the Michael Vick, dog fighting conviction and jail time… I mean, you know, outside of him being rehabilitated and the possibility of him getting his job back….
The exposure of this crime leads to the extreme exposure of the lucrative dog fighting industry around the country. Above that, over 150 leaders in these multiple rings have been arrested, saving over 500 dogs. Can you believe it? When I heard this, I was just taken aback by it all… Why is this pastime so big AND why is it so fun and interesting?
I’ve seen snapshots of what is done and it is the most devastating and gross thing I’ve ever seen (I wanted to say something outside of inhumane.). It just has me in this mind loop.
So, I’m glad that at least this awful act was brought to the forefront and animals were saved.

I couldn’t agree more! And can you imagine…with all those arrests…those were probably just a wee drop in the bucket. How sad. Poor puppies.
As for MV? I don’t think he’ll be playing anymore. Right or wrong, I don’t see people taking the risk of giving him a playing position. Too risky for the team publicity wise. But like you said, the good thing is that it was brought to the forefront. I see him becoming involved in a deeper way..with something involving animals. I think that might be his new calling.

That is one good thing to come from it. I just hope that they do not get started back up again- but I bet they will. So sad.

Hey Sheila and Taryn, I’m just glad–like you guys referenced–that the animals are okay… But, I know there is so left to do. Wow!
