Who’s The Guard?
Posted by VeRonda Wicks November 12th, 2008You know, I was thinking about my previous post on Allen Iverson and the position he plays on the court. He’s a guard, but for those of you who don’t know what his role is all about, he’s basically the coach on the court.
He ensures that everyone is where they need to be on the court and he’s able to see what plays would benefit the team the most and help them win. Guards are very smart and they usually possess the trust of their teammates through great decision making and positive team morale. Words can’t always describe how much they actually do and they’re definitely not always acknowledged for what they bring to the table. Without guards, the other players would just run up and down the court without any direction…
So, now you’ve got it, right? You now know what the guard position is all about!
Now, you can catch a basketball game or two and tell your significant other all about how that guard is working stuff out on the court, right (You know it, I’m cracking myself up!)? Along with this though (Seriously!), I really want you to identify the guards in your life. I’m all about self awareness and I believe everyone has a process… Everybody’s different. So, I can’t judge you for the time it takes you with your process and vice versa (Stop judging people! LOL!… K, I’m back.). But, what we can do is appreciate those folks who help to make our lives easier. Life is crazy sometimes and a quick “Thank You” goes a long way.
Hey, you never know (That’s all I’m saying!)… You just never know how much your words can help someone else. Go find that guard in your life!
